RetroNick: Games Collector // Episode 23: Violence & Bad Piano
Episode 23: Violence & Bad Piano
Recorded on: 23 December 2012
The two parents of the group talk about the violence in video games, and what affects they may or may not have on their children in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre. We also discuss the NRA’s presser, and the overall ignorance of comparing a game like Kindergarten Killers, to main-stream affairs such as Splatterhouse (the new one kids), Mortal Kombat, or Bullet Storm. While there’s no denying the tragedy of Sandy Hook, there’s no sense in blaming the entertainment industry for the ill-behavior of a madman. There’s bigger boogiemen out there. Let’s focus on stopping them.
Nick also whips out his Miracle Piano, hooks it up to the mixer and plays Auld Lang Syne (badly), to ring in the new year.
Drinking Rules: We don’t won’t to be a pill, but due to the heavy nature of this week’s podcast, we’re putting a hiatus on drinking rules this episode. Go hug your kids and other loved ones instead.
